BTCCSquare news:

Delta Air Lines is quietly replacing auxiliary power units (APUs) on more than 300 Airbus A320 aircraft after reports of toxic cabin fumes. The Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney-manufactured components have been leaking oil vapor into ventilation systems when seals degrade, exposing passengers and crew to potential health risks ranging from nausea to neurological damage.

The airline initiated the retrofit program in 2022 without public disclosure, according to WSJ sources. Aviation regulators face challenges quantifying the issue due to inconsistent reporting standards across carriers. Delta's fleet includes 310 A320-family jets affected by the defective APUs, which provide essential power and air circulation when main engines are idle.
